Hi new to the site and chose it as most of the stuff i have had problems with previously have been answered and resolved off here. Okay here goes, i have an issue with one wall downstairs as shown in the pictu-res im assuming its damp only thing is paint when applied doesnt ahere to it for longer than a a few weeks it starts to then peel after bubbling i would say most aspects do i would be greatful if you could a) confirm it is damp as it goes slightly black over months and b) l;et me know how i can resolve it money is tight but it needs doing so i would prefer to do it myself if possible many thanks in advance for the replies.

its an outside wall where the patio doors are but the wall with the socket on is the wall between me and my neighbourthere is a wall in the back yard seperating the yards if that is any help to you

Not sure on this one  But for about £15 .I would buy a tin of zinsser sealer from a decorators merchant...use that up ( won`t do whole area) and see if that stuff sticks

that could be your problem,if the wall in the back yard is against your house that will be the source of your damp

I'd guess you've got a cold damp corner which is unlikely to be the wall adjoining your neighbour so I'd be looking at the patio door or the small section of wall adjoining it. Is the door a bit drafty? has the outside been sealed up with silicone sealant which has now crumbled away? Is there a dodgy gutter or downpipe outside? You say "Yard" and imply there is a garden wall outside - is water pooling up against the house?

well about the sealer thing i will give it a bash but not sure if it will work but hey what do i know. there isnt a draft really at all and water doesnt sit near by it there is render all the way down to the floor which im going to chip off a bit as to stop there being a bridge for the water to travel up i need a sure fire way to stop the issue so am i looking at taking plaster all of and doing something as drastic as that many thanks for the replies and thanks in advance for more that comes

If you do go ahead and renew the old plaster, try using New Plaster Paint
it cost 16-19 pounds from high street DIY stores. Its....

Specially-formulated to allow new plaster to continue drying after application
Suitable for use on new plaster, concrete, brick and plasterboard
Good opacity
Drying time 2 - 4hrs approximately

good luck. salaam.
