under cupboard lighting

i want to fit under cupboard florescent lights in our kitchen..can i connect to normal wall plug socket as long as i have 3 amp fuse in the plug from the units i'm fitting i have an on/off switch on top of the cupboards.. so can i fit a plug socket from this point.. not to sure about electrics as you can see.. paul

Other than it is more normal for fixed items such as lighting to have fixed switches.

It works, but it's not the best way. That would be fixed wiring via a fused spur fitted adjacent to the socket you mention, all alternatively a LNE feed to the light switch for the under cabinet lighting taken from the lighting circuit.
