under cupboard lighting

i want to fit under cupboard florescent lights in our kitchen..can i connect to normal wall plug socket as long as i have 3 amp fuse in the plug from the units i'm fitting :confused: i have an on/off switch on top of the cupboards.. so can i fit a plug socket from this point.. not to sure about electrics as you can see.. paul :oops:

yup, nothing wrong with that ;)

Other than it is more normal for fixed items such as lighting to have fixed switches.

It works, but it's not the best way. That would be fixed wiring via a fused spur fitted adjacent to the socket you mention, all alternatively a LNE feed to the light switch for the under cabinet lighting taken from the lighting circuit.

i completly agree chris but as the OP was a bit 'unsure about electrics' i didnt want to blind him with science :D
