I remember reading or hearing somewhere (can't remember the original source -my memory ain't what it used to be!) that UF heating is not suitable as the main source of heating for loft extensions.

Can anyone confirm or deny this and the reasoning behind it?

Many thanks

Not sure of the science, but why have expensive heating in a loft or a flooring system that could 'take' under floor heating ?

As the top room it tends to get heat from other floors, as a newer build room it will be surrounded (ceilings and walls) by 100mm celotex, and under the floor it will have a 200mm rockwool blanket.

Ours was built 3 years ago and the only heating in a 10m x 5m loft room is a couple of 1500w dimplex heaters. We've never used both, never needed to and the one that does get used is on a timer to run for 15 minutes a night 5 months of the year.
The door is kept open and the ch heat does funnel up from the grd and 1st levels, flooring is carpet.

He might have accidentally removed those and absent-mindedly replaced the original ones after the BCO had left...

Yes, Chri5 - that was what I was thinking - in most loft conversions in victorian properties, the loft will be by far the best insulated room, therefore u/f heating would be sufficient. Panel heaters are of course an option, but perhaps not as asthestically pleasing...
