I am refurbishing one of the bedrooms in my house.
I think the room used to be a kitchen ( house is ~90 years old ) hence the mains enter through the ground in this room.
I want to turn this room into a bathroom with a shower / pantry. I will pour few cm of self leveling compound to cover the entire floor.
I have already moved hot/cold water pipe above the ground as I did not see the purpose / need for them to be underground and condition of the pipes was questionable.
I have few questions
1. Should I keep the pipe underground as it is ( covered with sand ) or does it make more sense to surface it?
2. Further down the pipe some of the wrap was undone and there is a compression fitting... I understand it is better to solder the pipe given the location and severity of the pipe?
3. Some of the wrapping is missing what can I replace it with? ( if the pipe will stay underground )
4. There is a chunky valve, it is all covered up. I plan for the shower to be above this location. Could these cause problems in the future in case something goes wrong?
My main concerns are around conditions of the pipe and the location / access given There will be a bathroom above them.
