I'm digging down (section by section) and putting in deeper founds for solid 9" wall.

If I make up the distance with two 100mm block, it's too thin.
If I use 135mm it's too thick.

Should I use one 100mm skin and one 135mm which is about right.

(I've probably answered my own question really)
 
I'm in the basement, and gone down a good bit. Need a bit more headroom.

Altered a doorway etc which means there's gaps in places where the brick is no more. Obviously quicker to make it up with some blockwork.
 
They crack much better that way too with the slightest movement.

Unless you lay them straight joints for two course and then bond them :wink:
 
2 courses of straight joints and then half bonded is the normal way on site for a niner.
