I want to box in under my stairs in order to create a bit of additional storage. basically the work would entail creating what would effictively be a small wall and a triangular shaped door.

the space where the wall would go is roughly 1m x 0.8m and is flanked on one side by a brick wall and on the other by a hefty staircase newell. I looked at putting up a small stud wall but unfortunately there are no joists in the ceiling above where the wall would be so i can't attach a head plate.

anyone have any thoughts on the best way to box this bit in??thanks

you don't necessarily need to fix the head plate as long as the upright studs are securely fixed to it, and the sides and sole plate are secure.

you could even make the stud frame first and offer it in, but i don't like this method.
