Hi,

I am trying to get to grips with how the heating system and plumbing is laid out in our house (about 7 years old).

I have traced all the pipes and now understand what most of them are for. However, I have noticed that there is no vent pipe for the heating above the feed tank in the loft which seems a bit odd!

Can anyone help me to identify what the round black thing is at the top of this photo? The feed is from the loft tank, and it splits, with the left-hand side going to the boiler and the right-hand side is the pump.

There is a small air vent cap which comes up from the the value and is connected to the same pipe as the h/w cylinder.

Thanks,

Stuart

air seperator with combined feed/vent.
the bleed vent near cylinder so you can bleed the system/cylinder coil.
