I have a new section of concrete floor that has been laid up to the old one, this is smooth and level but is raised approx 5mm up from the original one. The original floor has been poorly laid by the previous owner and has all sorts of dips, different levels and the like.

What would be the best way to get this floor level so I can then lay tiles or laminate succesfully on the top?

Hope someone can help :?:

Thanks.

Self floor leveling Compound mixed with water, pour it out then float it with a metal trowel.
See this to help you.

I've recently used self-levelling very successfully on a concrete floor. The best price I found was B&Q, which was only about £7 for a 25kg bag; around half the price that others wanted (does about 5 sq m @ 1.5mm thickness). I found it best to mix half a bag at a time, this was just enough to last 10 minutes (the recommended time). If you can it's best to have someone mixing the next batch as you're laying the first, to avoid joins between each batch. It can be laid up to 5mm thickness but if you need thicker you can add small, clean gravel up to 3mm. It's a doddle when you get the hang of it. PS Screwfix do the cheapest PVA, which you need for sealing the floor before laying the screed.
