If the bulge is directly above the dwarf support wall in the middle, then you obviously need to reduce the height and supported level of the dwarf wall a little. A car scissor type jack sat on some sort of support, will allow you to jack the joists up, whilst the height of the wall is suitably reduced.

Hi Harry thanks for the reply- this makes sense.

For the back wall it slopes down where the batten the joists sits on is loose. I was thinking to pack between the joist/batten ? And refix the joists to the batten

Do you have any advice? I have read slate was originally used to do this but wondered if any other sort of wedge is appropriate?

Anything which is impermeable to moisture and not compressible will do as packers.
