Hi,

Hi,

I am doing my small kitchen up on a budget. The back wall is mainly tiled and the top half that isn't, is very uneven. I am planning on removing all of the tiles and I am looking for ideas on how to improve the look of the wall and wondering if there is a way I can smooth it over without plastering it. I was thinking of putting plaster board on the whole wall and then tiling over the plasterboard as it’s above my kitchen worktop so I’ll need a splashback. Another idea is to use brick slips.

Any suggestions and advice would be really appreciated.

The wall is concrete, there are no pipes or wiring, it’s an internal wall and I live in a flat.
Pics attached. I’ve also included a photo of where the wall meets the ceiling, as you can see even that is uneven. I was told there used to be larder cupboards built in and they were ripped out years ago.

You could use plasterboard , or a wall board which would also act as a splashback .If you go with plasterboard you only need 9mm as it’s cosmetics .
You would need to compare prices for plasterboard, tile and adhesive versus a wall panel and adhesive .
