I’ve put down a second layer of Knauf roll insulation in the loft, and I’m insulating the loft door. On the top side of the loft door I’ve built a frame around the edge from an untreated 34 mm by 18 mm pine slat. Is this okay as is, or does it have to be treated?

I have some acrylic sealant spare, so I could paint on a coat or two which would provide some protection. It’s a cold loft of course, and it’s not damp, there’s good ventilation at the eaves. The loft door is made from plywood, and the top side is untreated, and has survived decades, so I’m guessing the frame will be okay.

Thanks. I forgot that I store untreated wood in the unheated garage, and that has less ventilation than the loft, and it is fine.
