Presently we have Baxi Solo boiler with a Horstman Tiara programmer S plan system.Could we upgrade to an RF unit without changing the boiler,thank you.?

Yes you can, the Solo is designed for operation by external controls, the only wiring it needs is:
1. A permanent live supply (from the FCU)
2. A switched live supply (from the motorised valves)
3. Neutral
4. Earth
The programmer and thermostats don't actually operate the boiler, all they do is open the motorised valves as required. It's a switch inside each of the motorised valves that turns the boiler on.
