UPS

Trying to change the delivery date,. tried online, no chance, phoned & waded through the robotic answering system, finaly got through to a human ( I think) only to be told I cant change it till tomorrow. But its being delivered tomorrow & I wont be in. the main thing that tipped me over the edge is those stupid automated answering systems which jump down your throat if you cant read & tell them a 38 digit tracking number in .003 of a second.

I applied for a new bank account on line the other day.

It told me that if I did not make any entries within 10 mins, the form would be dumped and I would have to start again. 2 mins later, I got a friendly "Ooops!" warning pop up.

Rang the bank to ask what it was and was told about the 10 minute limit. "But I was only 2 minutes!"

"Oh, yeah, but sometimes the system deletes stuff before the 10 mins are up...."

How the hell do they expect folk to fill in a form in constant fear of deletion??

Nucking Futs!

Some of the online sites have become so ridiculous that I won't even bother trying to use them anymore. It sounds very quick and convenient to just "do it online," but when the systems are so convoluted or so frequently come up with errors that you have to retry and retry, it's just not worth it.

I tried online monthly payments for our PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric) bill for a while, for example, but more often than not it would take three or four tries over the space of half an hour to get the payment page to load properly, then many times it would reject the card number for no apparent reason, or just say "Please try again later," at which point you waste another half an hour trying the whole process again.

I gave up and requested regular bills in the mail again so it now takes all of about one minute to write a check and shove it with the payment slip in an envelope. It's just not worth the hassle and extra time it wastes to try and use the online system to save a 49-cent stamp each month.

Online payments are supposed to be quicker and easier? Not always!
