my sis in law downstairs light switch dont switch on/off light upstairs and vice versa so obviously she aint got 2 way switches i havent looked at the cables to the switches yet but is it easy just to add whatever cable to the rose and switches :?: thats if i can get in her loft :!: :!: :!:

1)first you should ask has it ever swithed as 2 way, or is it now that she wants 2 way?

2)assuming both lights are independantly switched, they MUST be on the same circuit.

3)next thing to do is look in for refernce

and realise there is more to it that you think.,then say you dont feel well and send for an electricain

in brief

you will have to run a Tripple & e from one light switch to the other,
run a t&E from one light to the other,
remove connections to the 2nd light (put in jb)
note my signature
comply with part p
this assumes that "2" above is ok and does not need altering

changing one isnt, but he will have to add additional wiring from up stairs to down, and alterations to the wiring

but adding a light switch isnt againt part p?
Listen carefully, I will say this only once. (I wish)

ALL ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION WORK IN DWELLINGS, OR ON LAND OR IN OUTBUILDINGS WHICH RECEIVE THEIR SUPPLY FROM A SOURCE IN, OR SHARED WITH, A DWELLING, MUST COMPLY WITH PART P OF THE BUILDING REGULATIONS

the way i understand it is he wants to add a second switch to make it 2 way. adding a switch is not against part P so that can be done. and if he wants the downstairs light to come on at the same time, then he can '*add' a lighting point downstairs fed from the upstairs. again, this is not against part P

*remove old 1 last year, add new light now.... or just disconnect the existing feed to it

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
