Good evening all.

We are having a problem with the central heating in our house - the upstairs radiators are kicking out heat, even though we have the C/H switched off at the boiler.

The downstairs radiators are off as they should be, and the boiler in question is a Worcester Heatslave 12/14 combi-boiler which is oil fed, which was installed in 2003 and - until now - has given us no problems.

I have had a quick look at the controls on the boiler, and all seems in order. I do wonder if our little baby has inadvertently interfered with the buttons - he's just in the process of finding his walking feet and the cupboards and appliances in the kitchen are proving a big hit!

In this hot weather it has not been very pleasant for him - his nursery is regularly hitting 24 degrees plus, not to mention the cost of having the central heating on when not necessary.

If anyone can help out, it would be very much appreciated.

Regards,

Ben

your boiler has a heatbank which is kept hot , the divertor valve is probably passing and the heat bank isint reaching temp so the rads are heating.(pure guess work on what posted)

I agree with previous post diverter valve in the boiler isn't diverting to hot water completely hence the radiators are getting warm.

Try switch the heating on and off a few times to see if this will reseat
the valve. Otherwise valve replacement.

Thanks for the replies - I'll try resetting it tomorrow but for now a date with the Sandman beckons!

Quickly though, is replacing the diverter valve a complex job for a specialist or would I be able to do it myself? I'm an electrician by trade but have had to become fairly adept as a plumber for my current employer...

Regards

Ben
