Hi, just looking a bit of advice if anyone would know the answer.
We're currently extending and renovating our house. We're putting a garage in below an upstairs living room as we're sitting on a hill. The living room has a large opening 4.2m wide out onto a balcony. My question is regarding fitting the doors out onto the balcony. I know doors on the ground floor sit on a threshold installed between the cavity and against the outer skin of block. When we go up stairs and can't build a threshold into the cavity what do the doors sit on. I know windows sit on a sill that takes their weight. Is there another option besides putting window sills under the doors.

Thanks in advance

Phil

I think you need a cavity closer. You'll also need a railing to comply with building control.
