ok so first please go easy with me as im new here and hello all.
Right the problem im having is with my upvc front door which will not open. The locking mech wont work and the door wont lock /unlock . It unlocked at the moment and has been for the last 3 months but cant be opened as it looks like the bottom catch is still on and wont move. I have had someone look at it and try to remove the beads to get to the mech but they ended up damaging the middle panel and not getting any joy. Im really stuck now as to what to do now and could do with some help. When i try to open the door it opens about 3inch at top but wont move at the bottom clasp, which is a masterlock system.
Any help will be greatfull, Thanks

Does the mechanism have hooks, bolts, mushrooms or rollers (or a combination ?).

I opened a door with a similar problem a few weeks ago - the top would open, but the bottom wouldn't budge. Turned out the hook had become detached from the mechanism, and required a lot of persuasion to go back into the door. It's a fairly straight-forward job for a locksmith or UPVC repair specialist, but not one I'd recommend as DIY - as you'd likely damage the frame/door.

Just a shot in the dark, try lifting the door by the handle when opening you may just dis-engage a roller or cam that may be stuck because the door has dropped, but not a hook.
