Hi all. I have a handle on a UPVC window that's refusing to budge. It was working fine until recently - we open it once or twice every day - then suddenly refused to move. I can depress the button, but no matter how hard I try, I cannot force the handle to turn. There is half a key stuck in the lock, but that's been there for years.

Any ideas or advice would be gratefully received.

Short pipe on the handle or just pure brute force and open it, it's the handle that's jammed not the mechanism so there's no damage caused to it, it'll be the plastic plunger behind the push button that will give way

Nice one, thanks (yet again).

Yes it's 20mm, some manufacturers of handles put a selection of magnetic spindles in the packet to cover all bases and you just clip in the lengthyou need, depends on the make of pvc profile as some systems have the mechanism right at the back near the outside so you need a long spindle like 40mm, some are the opposite and near the front so you only need 10mm spindle, sometimes the window fabricators machines drill out really deep even if the mechanism is at the front so even a 40mm spindle will go in even if you only needed a 10 or 20mm
