While I was surfing down a rabbit hole I’ve come across the Veka fixing bracket guidance… link.

On page 6, the last photo shows a bracket installed on a window where the bracket has been bent through 90 degrees to accommodate the install.

Is it okay to bend window fixing brackets like this without issue?

The reason I’m asking is because I’m about to install a small porch window and installing it with brackets rather than through the frame would be much easier. But I’d need to bend the brackets in a vice for them to work in my situation.

Thanks!

The brackets don't need to be bent if the window is going into a cavity wall as the brackets are fixed into the inner skin where as on a single skin wall where possibly the inside of the window is sitting flush to the bricks or plaster then you can't employ this method unless plastering over them and then picture framing the inside to finish off
