Hi, forgive me if this is not posted in the right place but i do not use forums much.
Over the last few months i have read many threads on the above boiler as i have been having problems.
My problem were that the water did not get as hot as use too, Losing water pressure, heating side unreliable, had to keep pressing the switch on the diveter valve.
I got these parts from ebay, Hot water heat exchanger, pressure relief valve and a complete diverter valve with switch attached.
Today i thought i would give the job a go and fit all of the above parts to see if it fixed my problems. Before i started the boiler was working, just that the heating was hit and miss and water not as hot but running the water the boiler always fired up.
Since i have replaced all of the above parts the boiler no longer fires up.
No flame on either hot water or heating. The fan runs but the boiler will just not fire.
Something i have just noticed since changing the parts is that when i press the auto air release valve at the top back of boiler on the expansion vessel there is a lot of water released. This did not happen a few weeks ago when i was checking the boiler.
Am i right in thinking the the expansion vessel has failed and would this stop the boiler from firing up?
If that is the problem i have read that i can fit another vessel out side of the boiler but how would i go about connecting it up?
I now have no hot water or heating so i am starting to panic.
Can anyone recommend a heating engineer in northamptonshire.
Many thanks for taking the time to read and i hope you can please help.

Just type vaillantnorthampton in google...

Would this be you?

I will be getting 2 grand at the end of march and will be using the money for a new boiler so just looking to keep the old one running until then.
Boiler is now firing but servo valve is sticking on hw demand. After hw i have to push the cam on the valve back. Pin is free, i think its just the cam has worn on the servo valve and the spring has seen better days.

Would 2 grand cover the price of a new boiler?

Many thanks.

No, it's not me I'm afraid. But it should take you to the only person close to you who'll fix it. £2K is a good starting price for a Vaillant for Vaillant swap. It depends on weather the installation needs bringing up to current standards re gas supply and flue position. Also the type of controls you have in place re building regs compliance.

It may be a repair is straight forward and you can rest easy till later in the year. Just get the right person to diagnose!

I dare not say how old my boiler and heating system is so guess it will take a lot of updating. will need new rads for sure (5).

as for gastechs, that was the company that came up in search, with the blue and red vans on their web site. One of the reasons i have held off for so long is the fact it is so hard to find a good heating engineer (past problems) so will give these guys a call if the new valve don't fix the old boiler and a new one in march.

On the plus side i had a steaming hot bath this morning. It was hotter than i have had in the last 3 or more years so changing the hot water heat exchanger was not money wasted.
