Got a small halogen light for painting walls. It's really bright and hot but think it's important to be able to see any mistakes . I used it even during the day pointing it at the wall I was painting. Is this a good idea?

Not quite sure what that would achieve, is there no lighting or windows in the room ?

A decorator that I knew's first task was to replace the ceiling light with a brighter lamp.

Why not an LED flood ? 50W is pretty bright and runs cool.
So long as colour balance isn't an issue

Hehe...I knew there'd be a joke or two about rollers and brushes!
On a serious note, a good light from various angles will show blemishes in the surface that the naked eye, or poor lighting, won't show. With modern lighting methods, you can often only see these blemishes when the lights are turned on at night (after the job is finished) as they don't catch the light the same way as they do when you turn the lights on during the day. Nothing wrong with planning ahead and saving some extra work.

The halagen is 250 w. My led only 30 w.

Like the idea of using different bulb. Get brightest possible

a 50w LED is equivalent to a 500w halogen.

light is measured in lumens. consumption rated in watts.

30watts in a conventional lamp is poor, in LED it's bright
