Hi

Should a professional decorator clean down previously painted walls(Matt paint) before painting ? There has been a lot of renovation work so there has been lots of dust, dirt flying about

Also should they sand previously painted woodwork before painting again think they are using endurance eggshell white paint for woodwork

The newly painted walls have runs on them, paint blisters on two walls and previous blemishes have not been sanded down

After all isn't this what a professional decorator supposed to do . If it's just painting over existing paintwork any good diy er can do this

what rubbing down woodwork and walls, cor dont be silly

its a fundamental part of there job, preparation of the job to give the customer a good finish.

Woodwork should always be rubbed down to promote adhesion and its very shoddy to not do this. IMO sanding walls is as good as washing down unless they have deposits of grease, nicotine etc

Thanks

So the walls should be sanded first or washed down? Before painting ?

I just thought that a professional decorator would know to do this rather than having to tell him ??
