I have several large brass items –mainly exterior door fittings etc- which regularly need cleaning. I can achieve a good finish with brass polish but inevitably after a year or so they begin to dull and tarnish.
Of late I’ve used OOOO grade steel wool resulting in a good shine (no polish) but they need to be lacquered to last longer. Unfortunately I’m hopeless spraying lacquer – the finish I get is always mat.
How many coats should be applied to achieve a gloss finish and should I rub down each coat? Any advice on procedure would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
