Using MDF

Can anyone tell me the best way to seal the edges of MDF ready to polish.
I have a toilet seat made from MDF and has a beautifull polished finish.
I would like to build a bedroom cabinet with MDF and would like to have a polished finish. Can any one help.

I think you will find, and I could be wrong, that items such as toilet seats are pressure formed in moulds from the raw MDF material, in much the same way as plastic ones are.
