We've all been there and done that - or something like it. In my case I fitted an overflow into a kitchen sink and sealed the corrugated pipe onto the back of the fitting with white silicone. An hour later the stuff hadn't set. Not only that, there was no smell of acetic acid.

Perplexed by this I picked up the tube and read the label properly: Heatsink Compound What a mess! I had to clean the whole lot off and start again.
