Using thermalites as hardcore under patio

During the current build I've accumulated a couple of bulk bags of mortar snots, broken bricks, and other hardcore for future use under a patio. Around 20% of it is chunks of thermalite block.

If I leave the thermalite fragments in will the frost turn them to cheese over a few years?

I’ve often wondered the same but have never used em. I don’t think they’re up to it as will break up too much when compacted. I guess you could Add small amounts as infill, but not as your main hardcore aggregate.

I wouldn't use them. We collected the same bricks and mortar bits for the patio, but in the end used mot type 1 instead. Decided not to cheap out on the sub base.
