Vailant Diverter Valve Problem

Good Evening

I am after some advice on a Diverter Valve Problem, I will start with specs etc and explain what the current fault is.

1) Boiler make / model (gas or oil)
Vailant VCW Sine 18 T3 Combi Boiler installed by the father of the plumber who called today 21 years ago.

2) What is / is not happening.
Was heating up radiators when running bath, then last week it stopped
heating up the rads, hot water only.

3) Has ANYTHING else been done or changed recently.
Had a Gorgi plumber out to day and fitted a 01-01296 Diverter Valve
The original had 4 large ports and 1 small port to a small pressure unit.
The new one did not have this last port so fitter said after waiting for
over an hour to get Vailant help line he would fit it and give it a try.

4) When did the problem start?
A week ago and today

5) When does it happen? eg, heating coming on or going off.
When fitter left I had no hot water or heating and advised to call
out Vailant if I wanted to or Buy a new one as mine is 20+ years old.

6) Anything else you feel may be of relevance.
After putting more pressure in system and bleeding rad's, pump etc I now
have Hot water but heating will start fire up but only lasts about 15 sec's
pump still runs but no heat.

So my question's are:-
1. Is there a difference between Formerly 011244 and 011296 as in 5 connection?

2. Any ideas what the fault is, why the heating will not stay on?

3. £100 for Valve £70.00 to plumber is it worth spending more on this
boiler or get a new Combi, if so any Advice on what one?

personally id say it owes you nothing. get new one.

The part you had changed is not the divertor valve it is the water section and the bit that didnt get reconnected is the cold water expansion vessel which is not needed on the sine 18.

Your fault is probably the actual flow switch which is on the lefthand side of the boiler . Some will call this the divertor as it does the same thing but its listed as flowswitch . cost around £150 and will either go in first time in 20 mins or can be a pig and take an hour.

You can just buy the wax capsule (or thermostatic element as vaillant calls it) for the flow switch (diverter valve) which is the part that causes the problem. It still involves stripping off the flow switch to make the job easy but the last one I bought was around £25. One other question....are any of your hot taps dripping???? even just a tiny bit??

Do you think there'll ever be bootsales just for heating engineers? Full of obsolete parts? Just like VW's. "You can buy this original window for a 23 window splitty samba but I'll need the deeds to your house as payment"

Can someone post a link to a picture of the Flow Switch so I know what I am looking at?

Also as a further note, when I try to put the heating on the pump is making a lot of noise like it is full of air.

an anyone give more info on Flow switch as I can not see it, I have another plumber coming out tomorrow, to have a look but I like to
have an idea what I am looking at and he tells me.

Left hand side of boiler about 14 inches long , top pipe disappears into heat ex, one connection at top onto calorifier(silver cylinder) about 3 connections at the bottom 2 of which are smallish.

Also has Silver box on top with multiplug connector attached

I have decided 21 years was a good run, so going for a new Comi

Looking at the Worcester Greenstart 30SI got a plumber coming around
tomorrow to quote for Instalation
