Vailant vcw problems

Hi,

I am looking for advice on how to find a good Valliant engineer in Bristol or if I should write off my Combi boiler.

I have called one plumber who has told me I need a vaillant expert to look at it because it is a specialist boiler, but he think it may be a write off.

The boiler is a VCW GB 240 H or 280 H I have the manual so I assume it is one of the two.

The symptoms are as follows. When turning the boiler on I can light the pilot and all appears well the pressure appears to be about 1 bar like it says in the manual and Plummer confirm this is correct. However after a 10 min’s of operation, the boiler cuts out (the burner and the pilot light suddenly cut out with a click). However the pump doesn’t stop unless boiler turned off of timer over ridden.

All radiators are piping hot, apart from two at the front of the house. However I have always had a problem with them so I not sure if this is related.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I am not looking to fix my self.
However any advice that could help me find / select the right engineer or point a local Plummer in the right direction would be good.

OR

Should I give up on the obscure Vaillant and find someone to replace.

There is an excellent engineer in Bristol called Chris Hutt who is very familiar with Vaillant boilers.

Look for his name on the forum and contact him via his profile.
