I have had an Ecotec boiler fitted, i keep getting an F23 code come up. also should the boiler have two or three goes at getting the heating going or should it fire up staight away. anyone got any thoughts on this as it is driving me crazy!

No I doubt that has has bothered to look in the manual !
Even if he did he might be phased by all the possibilities:-
F.23 Lack of water
Temperature spread too large
System not bled properly
pump jammed, reduced output of the pump,
air in the appliance, system pressure too low,
supply and return NTC mixed up,
appliance not filled via appliance-internal KFE **** (fill only via return!),
start venting program
As always boiler faults often need a competent boiler engineer!
