yes....but..Firstly make sure the whole system is full and vented and running quietly, before isolating the boiler flow and returns, then you can drain the heating system. If you fill it up with the isolations closed it will struggle to vent properly, and could damage the heat exchanger
What mickyg is saying, is to isolate the boiler from the system then just drain the system down, leaving the boiler pressurised.
I have fitted many of these where I have left the boiler pressurised without the rads connected for a couple of days to give the customer hot water, but as said, they are noisey like this due to air.
what i was saying is fill the whole system and vent it first, then isolate the boiler and then drain the system. If you fill the boiler from empty with the iso's closed it won't vent fully and run noisy like dave has experienced.
