Ok so here's a update.
CBF kindly popped over today and so far has fixed the problem. Even upgraded the pump to a 15-60.
Working like a charm.. Will monitor closely when we move in and over winter.

What was the problem in the end?
Was I right in the view that the last people to look at it were Gibbons?

Lol spot on mate.
So a few probs:
1) pump is too small for house
2) pump was filthy
3) other bits of cleaning around other local pipes
4) d0 reduced by 1
5) whole central heating system balanced
6) bypass valve was broken. No spring in it. But workin for the time being. May need to replace it at a later stage

Do you mean the impeller was blocked with debris causing the poor circulation which we had identified?
Part of ( proper ) power flushing is to ensure the boiler waterways and pump impeller are clear.
It would seem that your expensive power flusher did not do this!
