Thank you everyone for your help. It turned out to be the diverter valve (again). The plumber fixed it... £146 all in.
He didn't give any detail, he just said it's the divertor valve. He replaced the unit and left me the old one, so I'll dismantle it and check the diapragm.
£146 for a replacement valve fixed on a Saturday seems pretty good. This is all we've payed in the past 4-5 years, so it's worked out much cheaper than heating insurance.

It's actually 4 1/2 years since it was last replaced.
