Good. Then just change the diaphragm in the bottom - where it's widest. They usually last longer than that though.

How did he decide it needed a whole new valve, and if it did after such a short time, did he give any opinion as to how long the new one will last??
 
He didn't give any detail, he just said it's the divertor valve. He replaced the unit and left me the old one, so I'll dismantle it and check the diapragm.

£146 for a replacement valve fixed on a Saturday seems pretty good. This is all we've payed in the past 4-5 years, so it's worked out much cheaper than heating insurance.
