I have a Vaillent combi, heating and water wont work, I have adjusted the water pressure, what would be the most probable solution to my trusted 25 year old system.

the most probable thing is that the overheat button has popped out. It's on the right hand side of the controls housing behind the pressure guage. You have to remove the front panel to get at it and even then it's a bit awkward to press back in. You may have to reach in with a long screwdriver to press it. You can get at it from underneath but it's trickier if you don't know where you're headed.

presuming the boiler is cold, just turn the power off at the spur, take lower front panel off and start feeling quite near the wall for a small rubber cover. when you find it, press it
It is on the right hand side, fairly high compared to the panel you took off, and when you press it, you have to press from right to left.
then follow normal start up presence.

Bit too obvious, but you never know.
is the pilot on?
control lights?
selector switches correct?

Hi guys i have located the button, this did not set it away, what can i do now, lights all on, pressure up, thanks for the info, keep it coming.

In that case it is time to call in someone who knows boiler operation and not a boiler-too-old person/ part changer.

Press the red button to fail the pilot light. Re-ignite the pilot light after 3 minutes and see if that works. There's a microswitch connected to the pilot light button that might not be contacting properly even though the pilot is on, failing and re-igniting sometimes gets it back to normal. If you have no joy with that follow DP's instructions.

weargas . Can you remember the first time you where ever caught with that fault.
Turned off for a service relit pilot and thought WTF has happened here all i did was turn it off.
