valliant problems

Hi

I have 2 problems & 1 Q with my valiant turbomax boiler. firstly the pressure keeps dropping to 0 every now & then either from running hot water or the general heating system. I refill the tank from underneath to 1 - 1.5 bars again. It sometimes rises to 3 bars also, so I either bleed a radiator, or run the hot water.

Secondly. 1 of my radiators on the level floor is cold at the bottom and relatively hot at the top, all my other radiators get hot.

Also what temp should be sufficent on the heating/water temp controls? as i think I might have them to high.

I have only had this boiler 2 years & am worried that it's gonna cost a fortune to get fixed as when I had it installed the men that did it left a leak that wasn't rectified for a month even though I kept calling then in a result the boiler had no pressure in the tank at all!!!!

Loss of pressure means a leak some where. Check the pipe which runs to outside it may be dripping. Or radiator valves.

Its a good boiler and sounds as though its working fine but could do with a service.

I know it needs a service, but being a woman I know that I might get ripped off.

just checked the 'i' button on boiler and it states that the pump is over run. what's that mean excactly, and does it mean a replacement?

If you know you should get a service, get one. Being a woman does not mean you will get ripped off, but I expect you have other uses for your money.

If you have a rad which is cold at the bottom, and this is on the ground floor (level floor??) then your system has sludge in it.

If your system needs constant topping up and sometimes gets to 3bar then either your boiler expansion vessel has lost its charge or there are too many radiators connected for the size of the expansion vessel in the boiler. The latter issue can be resolved by adding another one elsewhere.

Either way, by continually topping up the boiler you are bringing in fresh corrosive water and ruining your radiators, boiler etc by generating sludge by corrosion. I should get it fixed by a rip off plumber pronto.
