Hi all

Needs some advice.

Last week we started to get cold water from our Hot water taps. Gas central heating is working fine, no problem.

What is interesting about this is that sometimes we get hot water for a few seconds or even minutes.

When we do get cold water from hot taps the boiler does not fire.

I have called two plumbers and both of them mentioned two different types of problems.

One plumber said its a value problem.

the second plumber said its an Element problem becuase when you tunr hot water tap on the yellow light does not come on?

Any ideas anyone?

So you called TWO people but did not pay either?

Why did you expect then to tell you whats wrong if all you are wanting is free advice?

Boilers are best mended by boiler engineers rather than plumbers!

They even had to use THEIR petrol to get to you!

The yellow light only comes on when the burner is firing.

If the pre heat function is on ( green light on ) turn it off by turning the hot water dial fully off so green light goes off then turn dial back up.

Turn on hot tap

Does the green light flash when a hot tap is turned on? If the green light does not flash and the boiler does not fire then it's probably the flow sensor sticking.

thanks.

I have called out three engineers to get quotes.

Two of them say its the value problem.

Another one says its a Element that as burned out.

Three people have come to you for say an hour each!

No payment has been made to them!

Thank goodness none of them have told you what is wrong.

Obviously I consider it as totally unreasonable for you to waste their time like this.

But it is foolish of them to come out for free but when they are short of work they can become desperate.

had the work done by a boiler engineer, charged me £200 for the job.

It has worked for 2 days, getting HOT water. Now will not work.

It the morning always getting cold water.

The boiler engineer changed the Aqua water sensor which apparently looking online cost no more than£20.

The diverter valve is leaking got another boiler engineer coming Monday to replace that.

Any ideas why i am getting cold water again. Could it do with the little sensor attached to the Aqua sensor .

Well ur gonna need a specialist mate , valve and pcb ,DON'T CHANGE ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER OR YOU WILL BLOW THAT TO,

It now seems that you have had FOUR engineers to visit at a cost of £180. So each engineer was paid on average just £45 each for their visit.

Now you have yet another engineer! Perhaps a payment to him will increase the average to something more reasonable.

I would charge £84 !
