vans vans vans???

I'm still dithering about which van to buy. I'd really like a new panel van but i keep panicking at the immediate price drop.
A mechanic tells me that most second hand vans are sold on for expensive repair reasons.
The anxiety is eating it's way thro the valium - what shall i do?
Advice please.

Personally I wouldn't go along with your mechanics theory myself. Most people lease or contract hire vans these days. They go back at the end of the term whether it is for time or mileage reasons. Have a look here to compare vans.

As a panel van driver I would not recommend the front wheel drive transits with the 100 & 125 hp engines. In the wet they are dammed dangerous, the factory fitted wheels just sit and spin. Just try and get out from a junction on a brae (hill) quickly and you'll see my point. Get a test drive with some weight in the back of something you fancy and try everything, emergency stops, traction control,(transit 125 is cr*p, wheels still spin)My old transit was underpowered but was rear drive and was fine on the wet but U S on damp grass.
