I have some varnish left from doing my hand rail on stair case. Its Johnstones Polyurethane Quick Dry Polyurethane Varnish. A water based varnish. Will this be ok on the door divides? Or am I better getting something else? Its for divides upstairs from landing to bedrooms. Have already got them stained.

sorry, but what are door dividers?
do you mean the threshold bars in the floors (between rooms)? If yes, then it will probably OK, however something like OSMA oil might be more durable depending on the degree of traffic
