I've used Dulux Trade Brilliant white (vinyl for bath/kitchen and 'normal' for the rest) on my walls.

The eggshell paint I've used is Ronseal Brilliant White Eggshell for the prepped/undercoated woodwork but yet the two shades of white between the walls and the wood are different, with the woodwork looking a more blue and colder shade than the walls.

Should I have gone for the Dulux Brilliant White Eggshell for the woodwork? Basically is mixing brands of paint between walls and wood a bad idea as I have done?

I painted some emulsion over onto some woodwork (one coat) and the walls and wood match perfectly with surprisingly better coverage than the woodpaint! If I went down this road could I use this clear acrylic varnsh instead?: Polyvine Decoraters Varnish http://www.decoratingdirect.co.uk/viewprod/h/HUMPDV/ to overcoat the emulsion? I'm worried about yellowing though and these guys sell this as well: http://www.decoratingdirect.co.uk/viewprod/r/RATEGC/

I know that this is a bit unconventional and I'd be really happy to hear your thoughts on this.

Thanks - Jamie

Since the changes to VOC's last year, Dulux have been tinting some paints with blue to try and combat the premature yellowing of their new oil based paints.
Cant say I've ever used either of the products in your links but I generally don't like varnishing over emulsion because, as you say, it usually discolours. They may be good though.
