velux window insulation kit

Can anyone help me with a problem please. We have just had a velux window fitted and the insulation kit and vapour barrier have been left out of the installation. The roofer who fitted the velux said the insulation collar wont fit as the timbers have been cut to fit the window and no allowance has been made for the collar, I can understand this so the question is can we use anything else??? expanding foam etc...

Also the vapour barrier needs fitting?? is this a necessity??

I admire you want to fit the Velux as 'robustly' as possible but the window will perform adequately without these products.

Yes' use foam and/or foil tape where you need to.
