If it was not for a free Britain standing up to Germany Europe would still be occupied, and the war would have been lost.
Not really true when you take into account the aims at the time.

Yes, I agree we needed to stand but you need to look at the full picture

My first words on the subject was America could not have won WW2 without us (meaning Britain).

Ive never said we could have won the war alone.

Absolutely, if it had not been for us germany would have goose-stepped all over europe

Same with the slave trade, if it had not been for Great Britain's Royal Navy stamping it out it would have continued for another century or more

We have been an amazing country that has done so much good, so proud to be British

What ever nationality was within the British Isles.

There wasn't many Americans Pre Battle of Britain
As regards the battle of Britain, pilots and ground crew from 15 countries were involved...

The second biggest contingent after Britain was from Poland...

Such a shame we turned our back on them and other European nations 10 years ago!

Had they not filled the gaping holes in our defence along with other commonwealth countries, the number of americans is irrelevant...

The US wouldn't have bothered with Europe if Britain had fallen as they always only look out for themselves!

Great, we are getting somewhere

Where did most of these take off from once Europe was occupied?

The Polish where experienced great Pilots. Even better when flying Spitfires and Hurricanes

Got nothing to do with the war.

The Americans would never have joined the war. Would have been too late.

So this pretty much takes us back to my first statement.

However the Americans still might have had some beef with the Japanese.

It has everything to do with war...

Look back through history and usually a single event triggers a greater conflict...

The uk turning it's back on Europe emboldened putin as it has weakened Europe...

Those who engineered brexit (with dodgy funding) preferred the US model rather than the European one which whilst not perfect is a more socially cohesive approach to governance...

So we are now essentially allied to the US who couldn't give a monkeys about who they shaft...

They bled the UK monetarily up until 2006 with war debts whilst pouring money on former enemies who had then become strategically more important...

The US had decided to build an empire on the back of one that they helped to dismantle...

So now we are looking into the abyss once again and will soon have to fight another war that we are ill prepared for and brought about by ignorance yet again!

Yes, but American industry and Russian disposable manpower would have still carried it in the end.

If we'd joined with Hitler as some of the country wanted (and some still seem to want) then it would have been quite different.

Absolutely, we only won it with considerable help from others - but we were the ones who took the fight to an enemy we had no chance of beating, if we had not shown such bravery in the face of the unjust, theUS may have let us sink, they had very little interest in helping in the beginning

Yes ok your right there is a follow on connection

Cameron did say Brexit could lead to WW3

Had the Japanese not attacked Pearl Harbour, then id make you right.

American industry rescued Europe? D Day from Africa?

Yes when you say End. Is that as far as Irelands west cost?

If the Russians defeated the Germans, do you think they would have packed their bags and returned to Moscow?
