Hiya,

I have a task that seems incredibly difficult, i need to get ventilation to an underground flat. i cant go up or out the side of the wall with ducting, so to meet the requirements of building regs should i install a de-humidifier instead? the builder has gone ahead and installed a showerroom which will get very damp.

Ask the BCO officer - I would guess it's a NO!

Flat profile ducting can get you out of this situation many a time!

Solved a similar for a friend with a "design feature" of a stainless steel tube across the living area ceiling from kitchen to outside wall.

Have also seen artificial hollow wooden beams used to hide ducts across ceilings. ( I think you can buy the "beam" by the metre but have no idea from where )

you can also hide ducts above kitchen cabinets or wardrobes.

Is there an old chimney you could put a duct in (with condensate trap)?
