Vermiculite, do I need to worry

I was trying to find out what kind of insulation I have. And what the internet seemed to suggest is that I have Vermiculite. I had previously assumed that it was some kind of polystyrene pebbles, its quite soft.

Is that what this is?
How would I tell if it is safe?
I really hope I am overreacting here.

Yes the images posted are indeed vermiculite.

As for the question is it safe??

internet and information gives warnings that some such materials can at times contain Asbestos, only way to be 100 5 sure is to instruct a test of the material.

There are test houses where you can post samples to and they will test and provide results, but?? i for one do not know how to obtain samples meaning how big an area do you lift samples from??
