I have just had some quotes for vertical blinds, and am now considering buying and fitting them myself.

Argos sell an 8ft track plus slats for £60, but unfortunately my windows are about 8ft6in. They have a slope at the top, so I cannot use 2 rails whilst being able to pull open the blinds.

Can anyone suggest an alternative supplier whose prices are similar to Argos? (lots of websites I have looked at are charging around £200!)

I don't know the area in which you live but in Teesside suppliers of blinds do offer much better deals than you state. eg I have a window 3.9 m long with v blinds which draw back from the middle plus another smaller window for the all in price of £100 fitted.
Not too sure what you mean by a slope at the top.
I suggest you look in yellow pages before web sites.

Would it look like an office? Or is it already an office!
We went for horizontal wooden plantation type and they are excellent.
Bought from Additions and from Ikea.
Can adjust up down and tilt to cut out sun, let in light, etc.
Don't know about heights/drop available, but should find something on the net!
