Vertical DPC and plastering

Hi,I have damp around the inside of my windows since I filled the gaps around my old uPVC windows with foam,and then covered with a plaster filler.

Having chipped off the filler at the dampest spot I found that the vertical DPC is about 40mm to the inside of the window frame,and not understanding such things I just plastered over it.

What should I do with the vertical DPC before I can plaster over it?
