First post here. This one is baffling me and I'd appreciate it if anyone has any ideas. First of all I have a conventional boiler with a tank in the airing cupboard and the usual cold water tank and expansion tank in the loft. I've lived here for many years and all of a sudden noticed a noise not dissimilar from a helicopter overhead.
I get quite a loud vibration in the pipes that seemed to originate with the CH pump (Grundfos) so decided to replace it as it's quite a few years old. I've had it replaced and it makes the same noise. Not always. It's one of those intermittent issues that are so annoying, but it does seem to do it more. It only does it when the hot water fires up. Not with the CH. I'm attaching a video which hopefully works. You'll see that it doesn't do it when the pump is on low or high. Only medium. I've now set the pump to ECO mode and it still doing it. Any ideas? Driving me nuts as to what it could be and if it's serious or just annoying. Just to add the only thing I've done to the system recently (like past few months) is to have a new hot water cylinder fitted. I've now got a stainless steel one (used to be copper).
Many thanks.
Phil
