vinyl flooring

I am thinking of putting a vinyl flooring in my old kitchen plus new extenion, the old floor is a couple of mm higher than the new one, would a plywood coving do the job better than self leveling compound, and what is the best way to fix the ply down if that is the best way.

if both floors are concrete or a hard base ( not wood, chipboard etc ) Then you should use smoothing compound. Read the sticky at the top for more help.
