might be worthwhile for you to provide a photo of your DIY laid ply floor?
are all fixtures still in place - eg bath, wc etc?
typically, for a DIY'er to drop a one piece of sheet vinyl in place it would be best for you to tape the edges - then, if needed, you could easily lift it or replace it.
