my hot water tap runs hot and then cold and then hot again sometimes resulting in the reset button flashing with an F4 showing. can anybody tell me what the problem may be cheers

If it is a Vitodens type WB1A boiler, check the ignition transformer and see what colour it is. Black is good - change it if it is any other colour. They're not expensive. This SHOULD fix it.
If it is a WB1B or a late WB1A, it is still in warranty, so call V
