Had a VM engineer here to replace TV box that gone tits up. He couldn't connect old cable(screw thread) to new box adaptor(copper wire too big).

Anyone know of a connector that would fit both ends. To put another cable in, it will have to run along skirting boards (which I hate). Cheers for any replies.

The fattest of the 'normal range' of domestic coax cables has a diameter in the range of 8mm to 8.2mm. There are screw-on F plugs made for this thickness of cable. Here's just one example: LINK

For completeness' sake, your average TV coax is a 6.7 - 7.0mm diameter. There are also two smaller diameter cables at roughly 6mm and 5mm that are also used in domestic installs. Each has an F plug design for the specific size.

No matter what the collar size, the nut part of an F plug is always the same size, so any of the above plugs would screw on to the threaded end shown in your picture.

TBH, I'm a bit surprised that the installer from VM wasn't better equipped.

Cheers lucid for reply. What I did to connect the box was use a push on coax fitting. I didn't use there little bit of cable supplied. Channels are still not 100% thou, so going to have to contact VM again.

Sounds like that they did not send an engineer but an inexperienced installer.
Phone them again and ask them to send an engineer with the right kit.
Also ask them to consider how they will compensate you for loss of service while you have been waiting.
