Hi All

I live in a second floor flat and have the above system, probably about 20 years old - same as flat. The system was serviced about 6-8 weeks ago, the engineer said there was a slight leak inside the boiler when the system switched from heating to hot water. He didn't think it was anything massive to worry at the moment.

Anyway, tonight I've had to top up the system as the pressure has gradually slipped down to 1 bar, as well as bleed one of the radiators as it was cold at one side. I'm sure I've nothing to worry about but how often should you need to top up the system?

Many thanks.

if it only leaks when you run hot water then its most likely the tail plate thats leaking. easy job for a pro, moderate for a novice.

If the rad is cold one side, possible lack or slow water flow through it. Nothing to do with the boiler

Thanks very much for your replies. I had a cracked pipe last year which ended up with me flooding the flat downstairs so keen to avoid any such other problems! Will keep an eye on water pressure.

Given the cold weather I've had the heating on much more than usual - in a combi system can the water in the system run low if it has been on for long periods of time?
